Red Brick House

Red Brick House is a newly completed home for my Aunt Rene and her husband Barry: designed and planned during the second half of my architectural student placement year. The house is to signal their return to Irish countryside after many years of English urban-life in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.

The overall house is divided into 2 main blocks: ‘living’ and ‘sleeping’. The ‘sleeping’ block of bedrooms and studies, face East for early morning sunlight, whilst continuing the line of existing development. The ‘living’ block stretches back along the length of the site with the sun-room facing South and living room East facing or evening-lit. Theses 2 blocks are separated by kitchen, bathrooms and utilities giving the kitchen a positioning at the heart of the home.
